International Advantages
Global industry chooses Borger, again and again.
When evaluating an established community as a new location prospect, you'd ask, "When is the last time a company expanded there?". An expansion is like a marriage vow renewal - the company might have chosen to marry the community when it first built and spent millions of dollars to get operational, but when it decides to expand, the company is recommitting to its community - it is choosing the community again. It's the sign of a happy marriage.
When Chevron Phillips Chemical Company chose Borger as the place to expand by building its Ryton® PPS plant in 2007, Greg Garland, senior vice president of planning and specialty products stated, “This project solidifies Borger, Texas as the worldwide hub for Chevron Phillips Chemical’s PPS polymer business". Borger beat out over a dozen other sites for that expansion. Since then, Solvay acquired the Ryton® PPS plant and has grown that business unit even more.
In 2014, when Agrium (now Nutrien) chose Borger for its urea plant expansion, the City of Borger, Borger EDC, and Hutchinson County invested alongside Agrium in new water infrastructure, tax abatements, and cash incentives to ensure the project would be adequately supported. This teamwork resulted in one of the largest industrial expansion projects seen in the Texas Panhandle in recent decades.
Today, Borger is home to operations for global companies based in Japan (Tokai Carbon CB), Canada (Nutrien), Belgium (Solvay), and Luxembourg (Orion Engineered Carbons) - making Borger the most sought-after industrial community for global investors in the Texas Panhandle.
Some of the advantages to International Companies for locating in Borger are:
- Proximity to other global companies and the sharing of infrastructure and resources - like rail, talent, and adequate supply to utilities and natural resources.
- Central location between East and West Coasts.
- No state income tax.
- Workforce attraction, since Texas is one the fastest growing states in the United States.
We're committed to industrial success. And our global industry partners are just as committed to us.
