Education

Education is a top priority in Texas. In fact, almost half of the Texas state budget is spent on education. Borger’s outstanding public education programs provide a variety of opportunities for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, including special educational programs, gifted and talented programs, and vocational education.

Borger Independent School District is made up of three elementary schools (Paul Belton Early Childhood Center, Gateway Elementary, and Crockett Elementary), Borger Intermediate School (5th Grade), Borger Middle School (6th-8th Grades), and Borger High School (9th-12th Grades).

The District has a long standing tradition of excellence. In 2002, the BISD was recognized as one of the Best 100 schools in America for music education by the American Music Conference and the National School Boards Association. The District is also very proud of its athletic programs. BISD’s programs are no strangers to state recognition as many of its programs are ranked among the State’s elite programs. In 2004, BISD was home to playoff bound football, basketball, baseball and softball teams. Borger ISD was also home to District 1-3A Boy’s Basketball District Champions and Boy’s Track and Field District Champions.
